The management and staff of Ahotor 92.3 FM, an Accra based radio station has donated assorted items worth over 8,000 cedis to the Weija Leprosarium, a home to lepers who have been outcast by their families in Accra on Wednesday.
The donation was part of the station’s Corporate Social Responsibility of giving back to society as they celebrate their third year of offering better and quality radio programs and content to their ever growing number of audience.
The items donated included bags of rice, clothes, soft drinks, bread, sardines, biscuits, milo, shoes, sandals, toiletries, chocolate, and pastries from a listener who joined the station to do the donation.
According to Mr. Harry Larson, the station’s head of events, Ahotor 92.3 FM decided not to celebrate their third anniversary alone but to spread their tentacles and be of assistance to the less privileged in society.
“We decided to share this day with the leprosarium as part of scheduled events towards celebrations to mark our three years of relevant radio broadcasting. It wouldn’t be a worthy occasion should we enjoy alone at Lashibi and hence this gesture”
Receiving the items Madam Veronica, a caregiver at the leprosarium, on behalf of Me. George Quansah, the caretaker expressed their appreciation for Ahotor 92.3 FM’s support to the facility.
She further appealed to corporate Ghana to support the foundation with donations, adding that “this would help cater for the basic needs of inmates at the leprosarium”.
