AGGRIEVED NDC GRASSROOT SUPPORTERS PETITION PRESIDENT TO RECONSIDER THE APPOINTMENT OF NPP LOYALIST AS ACTING CEO OF VRA

Some aggrieved grassroot supporters of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Akosombo in the Asuogyaman district in the Eastern region and some other constituencies, have expressed strong concerns over the appointment of Ing. Edward Obeng Kenzo as the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Volta River Authority.

Addressing the media, the group in a petition to president says it is widely acknowledged that CEO is not a true member of the party and lack the resolve to effectively implement the party’s strategic vision and objectives for national development.

Says VRA over the years has been one of the best state-owned entities where meritocracy was the hallmark of its operations, however since NPP took over governance in 2017 the institution has been gravely politicized and weaponized dividing the institution with NPP and NDC perceived members.

They believe appointment from within the party will not only strengthen the party presence but will also ensure the interest of the party and the nation is due represented.

Campaign manager and Caders Chairman of the party in Asuogyaman, Chairman Bismarck Asante also adds that most of the problems with VRA in Akosombo were as a result of the agenda settings in VRA and doing the biding of NPP with VRA by management of the organization.

Accused the past management of recruiting members of the NPP to politicize the company, the group believe they are many competent people who can equally do the job.

Meanwhile, Branch chairman of NDC in Ashaiman also speaking at the press conference stressed that Ing. Edward Obeng Kenzo did not qualify for the position.

Says the actions and some dealings of Ing. Edward Obeng Kenzo does not sit well with the grassroot base of the party, this he says should not be allowed to go through.
