After Eight Years of Neglect: MCE Raymond Nana Ebbah Leads Major Road Repairs in Amenfi East

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Wassa Amenfi East, Hon. Raymond Nana Ebbah, has personally supervised the Government of Ghana’s routine road maintenance works on the Nkonyah–Bawdie road and other key roads within the Amenfi East Municipality, bringing long-awaited relief to residents after more than eight years of severe pothole challenges.

For over eight years, the deteriorated state of these roads has burdened motorists, traders, farmers, and commuters, resulting in frequent vehicle breakdowns, accidents, rising transport costs, and prolonged travel times. Despite repeated appeals from residents, the situation remained unresolved—until the current intervention.

The ongoing maintenance works include extensive pothole filling, patching of badly damaged sections, and reshaping of affected road surfaces to restore safe and smooth movement.

The Nkonyah–Bawdie stretch, a critical economic link connecting farming communities to major market centres, has been prioritised because of its strategic importance to the municipality.

During an on-site inspection, Hon. Raymond Nana Ebbah engaged engineers, contractors, and highway officials, stressing the need for durable, high-quality work to ensure the long-standing road problems are addressed effectively and sustainably. He described the intervention as a clear demonstration of government’s commitment to responding to the real needs of the people, even where challenges have persisted for years.

The MCE also interacted with residents and traditional leaders along the corridor, many of whom expressed appreciation for the long-overdue repairs. Several described the development as a “relief after eight years of suffering,” noting that the improved roads will enhance safety, ease the transportation of farm produce, and stimulate economic activity in the area.

Hon. Raymond Nana Ebbah reaffirmed his commitment to prioritising road infrastructure across the Amenfi East Municipality and assured residents that the Assembly will continue working closely with relevant state agencies to promote sustainable development and improved living standards.
