The next edition of the Afro International Music Festival has been officially launched at the historic Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum in Accra, with a strong call to Ghanaian creatives to champion and celebrate both Ghanaian and African culture.
The launch event, hosted by renowned musician and entrepreneur Trigmatic, brought together key figures from the creative industry. Among them was James Gardiner, Deputy Executive Director of the National Film Authority (NFA), who delivered the keynote address.
In his remarks, Mr. Kelvin Amuzu, the newly appointed CEO of the Afro International Music Festival, shared his enthusiasm and vision for the event.
“I’m honoured to lead this incredible initiative. The Afro International Music Festival is set to become a premier platform for celebrating African talent and creativity. I look forward to working with the team to bring this vision to life,” he said.
Scheduled for 2026, the upcoming festival promises a dynamic lineup featuring a blend of established and emerging African artists, musicians, and performers from across the continent and beyond.
The festival aims to be a vibrant celebration of African music, art, and culture, while also serving as a launchpad for rising stars to shine on a global stage.
Last year’s edition, held from August 9 to 11, featured performances by Efe Grace, Sarfo Newman, Kwame Yesu, Kimilist, and upcoming acts like Riycon and Sobolo Song.
The high-energy event was powered by DJs like DJ Justice and DJ Cartoon, with MC Sanke hyping the crowd. Their electrifying mixes of Afrobeat, Hip-Hop, and Dancehall kept the audience on their feet throughout the three-day festival.
