African players would have to believe in themselves – Siyabonga Nomethe (Audio)

Former South African forward and AmaZulu FC , Siyabonga Eugene Nomvethe has implored his fellow African footballers to have believe in themselves and strive to achieve excellence.

In an interview with Dakyehene Kwabena Amoabeng, Head of Ahotor 92.3 Fm’s Sports desk on “Ahotor Akansie”, the player made the comments in a response to a question on why African players are unable to perform better at the world cup as compared to their white counterparts.

Speaking further on the issue, he said God has given the African player the skills, talents and speed needed for the gave in order to have a successful career and with that, it would be difficult for the western side to stop as in any game.

He said it was now time for African football youngsters to make the continent proud on the field of play‚ just as he has done all that he could possibly do.

Nomvethe made his indelible mark in SA football‚ culminating in him winning the coveted Footballer of the Year award in 2011-12‚ the season he also finished as the league’s top scorer with 20 goals. Swallows ended runners-up under Gordon Igesund.
