AFCON FAILURE: GFA Executive Council Meets today

The Executive Committee of the Ghana Football Association is set to converge today, Wednesday 20, 2024 to thoroughly review among others Ghana’s 2025 African Cup of Nations monumental debacle.

For the first time since 2004, the BlackStars of Ghana failed to make an appearance at next year’s AFCON in Morocco just like Eswatini, Chad, Madagascar and Namibia who all won nothing in six games during the qualification round.

Chiefly to be discussed in the crunchy meeting will be deciding the fate of coach Otto Whether to sack or maintain. Otto Addo was very poor in the qualifiers and has come under scrutiny by fans and some sports journalists with the most recent heated banter happening during the post-match presser after the painful home defeat to Niger on Monday.

If it is unanimously agreed at the meeting to maintain coach Otto Addo, the next task per MotorSports intelligence will be to beef up the Black Stars technical team with more experienced person(s) to provide support to the former Dortmund trainer scout who has another herculean task to qualify Ghana to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

It’s rather unclear what the Executive Council would do to non-performing members as president of the Football Association Kurt Okraku is said to have quizzed their competence.
