The Black Stars were held to a 0-0 draw by Sudan in the 2025 African Cup of nations qualifier at the Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday, 10th October, 2024. Ghana failed to score despite having clear scoring opportunities at goal.
Coach Otto Addo made few changes to the starting eleven in Ghana’s previous game against Niger. Alexander Djiku, Abdul Sulemana and Ernest Nuamah returned to the starting line up against Sudan.
On the back of an impressive form under Coach Akwasi Appiah Sudan started the game in high spirit. Contend with defending they did that pretty well in both halves.
Ghana came close to registering the opener in the second half, Mohammed Kudus fired in from close range but Sudanese goalkeeper Muhammed Mustafa pulled up a brilliant save. Antoine Semenyo indecisivenes let him down on several ocassions at goal.
Ghana was presented with another opportunity at goal from a free kick but Mohammed Kudus effort came off the human wall. With 6 minutes of added time, the Black Stars pushed for the opener but Sudan’s resoluteness in defense kept them at bay.
The stalemate leaves Ghana 3rd in Group F with 2 points from 3 matches whiles Sudan are 2nd with 4 points. The Black Stars will drop to 4th if Niger beat Angola who top the group with 6 points.
The return encounter between Ghana and Sudan comes off on Tuesday, 15th October, 2024.
