AFCON 2025: Morocco to host Nigeria in a friendly
Head coach of the senior national team of Morocco Walid Regragui has started plans in earnest for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) , which they will be hosting in December.
The coach whose team were placed in group A after the draw alongside Comoros, Mali and Zambia. Regragui is already looking at the best ways to have his team prepared for the task of lifting the trophy as host.
Per multiple reports in Morocco he has told the FA to set the wheels in motion for a friendly game with Africa’s top sides in Ivory Coast and the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
He is of the opinion that the two teams, who were the finalist at the last AFCON will prove to be worthy opponents against his team, before the tournament to properly test their readiness.
Talks with Nigeria isn’t expected to be complicated as both teams have a very good relationship, which led to the scheduling of a friendly game between their U20 teams, but it was canceled when they were both in the same group after the draw for the U20 AFCON was made.
