AFCON 2023 Qualifiers: Ghana held to a draw by C.A.R in Angola 

The Black Stars of Ghana have been held to a 1-1 draw by the Central African Republic in the 2023 AFCON qualifiers.

Defender Jonathan Mensah had to be rushed to the hospital after what appeared to be a concussion following a collision with a CAR player.

The West African giants sit top of the table despite the 1-1 draw against the the the Central African Republic after two games.

Mohammed Kudus scored for the second game running as the Black Stars of Ghana were held to a 1-1 draw by the Central African Republic in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. 

The game, which was played in Angola, was marred by Jonathan Mensah’s injury in the second-half following a collision with a Central African Republic defender. 

The defender had to be rushed to the hospital after a lengthy spell on the pitch receiving treatment from the team’s medics. 

Ghana started the game brightly and after just 17 minutes broke the deadlock through Ajax midfielder Mohammed Kudus. The Ajax star curled home after a brilliant build-up involving Osman Bukari.

But the hosts levelled with four minutes to halftime after Karl Namnganda blasted home with a ferocious strike. Namnganda out-paced Amartey and Jonathan Mensah before firing past Lawrence Ati-Zigi.

The second half failed to produce any goal but the game was affected by Mensah’s injury which stalled play for many minutes.
