Aduana Stars Triumph in Five-Goal Thriller Against Berekum Chelsea

Under the blazing sun at Nana Agyemang Badu Park in Dormaa, Aduana Stars delivered a scintillating 3-2 victory over rivals Berekum Chelsea in a Ghana Premier League Round 30 clash that will live long in the memory of fans.

The “Ogya Boys,” led by their passionate home support, showcased resilience and flair to secure a crucial three points, drawing level with Chelsea at 41 points in the tightly contested mid-table battle.

The match ignited early when Aduana’s dependable defender Alex Boaky rose highest to head home in the 15th minute, sending the home crowd into a frenzy.

The early goal set the tone for Aduana’s high-pressing game, but Berekum Chelsea, known for their lethal counterattacks, refused to buckle.

In the 42nd minute, Chelsea’s talismanic striker Stephen Amankona, the league’s leading scorer, latched onto a through ball and coolly slotted past Aduana’s goalkeeper to restore parity. The first half ended 1-1, with both sides trading blows in an end-to-end spectacle.

The second half exploded into life when Aduana’s tactical substitution paid dividends. Elvis Eddo, introduced at halftime, wasted no time, ghosting into the box to fire home a low drive in the 47th minute, reigniting the home fans’ hopes.

However, Chelsea’s resilience shone through, and who else but Amankona struck again in the 52nd minute, capitalizing on a defensive lapse to make it 2-2. The striker’s brace underscored his importance to Chelsea, but Aduana were far from done.

As the game hung in the balance, Aduana’s Godfred Poku Wakii emerged as the hero. In the 71st minute, the midfielder unleashed a thunderous strike from the edge of the box, leaving Chelsea’s goalkeeper rooted to the spot.

The stadium erupted as the “Ogya Boys” reclaimed the lead, and this time, they held firm. Aduana’s defense, marshaled by Boakye, repelled Chelsea’s late onslaught, with the goalkeeper pulling off a stunning save in stoppage time to deny Amankona a hat-trick.

The final whistle sparked celebrations in Dormaa, as Aduana Stars clinched a vital win in their quest to climb the Premier League table.

The victory not only showcased their attacking prowess but also highlighted their never-say-die spirit against a formidable Chelsea side.

With both teams now locked on 41 points, the race for a top-half finish intensifies, and Aduana will look to build on this momentum in their upcoming fixtures.

As the season nears its climax, this Dormaa classic will be remembered as a testament to the drama and passion of Ghanaian football.
