Aduana FC Claim Ghana Premier League Summit with Late 1-0 Victory Over Eleven Wonders

In a tense, hard-fought encounter at the University of Ghana Stadium on Sunday, Aduana FC edged out struggling Techiman Eleven Wonders 1-0 to claim the top spot in the Ghana Premier League table.

The victory, secured by a late strike from Charles Gyamfi Kamara in the 83rd minute, propelled the Fire Club to 18 points after eight matches, one point clear of defending champions Medeama SC.

The match was a classic tale of resilience versus desperation. Eleven Wonders, rooted in the relegation zone with just five points from their opening eight fixtures, arrived in Legon desperate to arrest a dismal run that has seen them win only once this season.

Aduana, by contrast, entered the game unbeaten and brimming with confidence, having dropped points in only two draws prior to Sunday’s clash.

From the opening whistle, the hosts dictated the tempo, pinning Wonders back with relentless pressing and quick transitions. Midfield dynamo Sam Adams orchestrated play with pinpoint passes, while winger Bright Adjei terrorized the left flank with his pace and trickery.

Despite Aduana’s dominance in possession—hovering around 62% for much of the game—Wonders’ defensive duo of captain Wahid Mohammed and Abdul Ganiyu stood firm, repelling wave after wave of attacks.

At the other end, Wonders offered little threat, managing just one shot on target—a speculative long-range effort from midfielder Enoch Atta Agyei that sailed harmlessly over the bar.

The second half followed a similar pattern, with Aduana probing patiently and Wonders clinging to their defensive shape.

The breakthrough arrived in the 83rd minute. A swift counter-attack initiated by full-back Farouk Adams caught Wonders napping. Adams surged down the right and delivered a low cross into the penalty area, where Kamara ghosted in unmarked to side-foot the ball past Moesart.

The University of Ghana Stadium erupted as the Fire Club faithful celebrated what would prove to be the match-winner.

Wonders threw caution to the wind in the dying minutes, pushing men forward in search of an equalizer. They now occupy the summit of the table.
