The Concerned Drivers Association is urging Ghanaians to adhere to the new transport fares and has challenged the Ministry of Transport’s directive to the Ghana Police Service and other security agencies to apprehend drivers charging unapproved fares.
The Association asserts that the new transport fares are fully operational, and they cannot afford to wait for the transport minister’s approval.
David Agboado, the spokesperson for the Association, emphasized during an interview on Ahotor 92.3 FM’s Midday News today, Monday, April 22, that the expenses of their business have consistently risen.
“As transporters, we incur costs for parts, fuel, insurance, DVLA papers, etc. We don’t acquire these for charity; we operate as profit-driven entities,” he stated.
He also questioned the rationale behind the Transport Ministry’s statement and criticized the sector minister for releasing the directive while being out of the country.
