The National Chairman for the largest opposition party, National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr Samuel Ofosu Ampofo has said the president, Nana Addo Danquah should address Ghanaians on his plans to get us out of this economic mess
He said, the economic situation in the country is real, things are difficult and Ghanaians are suffering
In an interview on Ahotor FM ‘s morning show hosted by Citizen Kofi Owusu, Dr Ampofo questioned the relevance of the president’s tour to suffering Ghanaians
He urged the president to seek help on how to hold the cedi and solve the economic crisis we find ourselves in
“The suffering is too much, everybody is suffering, in fact the president should sit with his advisors and look at how best to hold the cedi. I don’t know what he is doing with the tour, what solution can it bring to the situation we find ourselves in? Ghanaians need solutions.
“He should call for a national dialogue and seek help from experts on the way to go. The best thing is to address Ghanaians on how he intends to solve these problems because they are scary”
The economic challenges in the country is dire. The cedi continue to depreciate with GHC 13.75 to the US dollar after reaching GHC 13 on October 19, current inflation rate for the month of September is at 45.6%
The president currently is touring Eastern region after a four days tour in the Ashanti region
