The Accra High Court has remanded four Ghanaians arrested in connection with the exportation of nearly four tonnes of cocaine from Ghana to France.
The accused persons are Desmond Koranteng Curiel, alias Paul Kweku Yeboah or Biggs; Musah Attah, alias Kromo; Kweku Otchere; and Jessica Hartog.
They were arraigned and remanded into custody for four weeks. They are to reappear on October 13, 2026.
A fifth accused, Dutch national Jos Leijdekkers, alias Bolle Jos, is currently at large.
The four are facing two counts: Conspiracy to commit a crime, namely exportation of narcotic drugs without a licence issued by the Minister of Health, and Exportation of narcotic drugs.
Their arrest follows the seizure of 3.9 tonnes of cocaine by French Customs at the Port of Dunkirk in northern France on September 10, 2026.
The drugs, with an estimated street value of €225 million, were concealed in a container declared as carrying plastic waste that had arrived from Ghana.
Part of the consignment was reportedly destined for Antwerp, Belgium. Following the French seizure, the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) announced the arrest of three suspects in Ghana, later increased to four.
According to NACOC, the suspects allegedly represented and facilitated the activities of Dutch fugitive Bolle Jos in Ghana to move the consignment through cargo. NACOC says it is working with French authorities to obtain further details on the seizure and to trace how the container exited Ghana.
