Accra Hearts Of Oak Secures First Win At Legon Sports Stadium
Accra Hearts of Oak secured their first victory of the Ghana Premier League with a 2-0 win over Bechem United on Matchday three.
The Phobians put on a solid performance to earn a much-needed three points at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium after a massive pressure mounted by the supporters.
The first half was a tightly contested affair, with both teams creating chances but failing to find the back of the net.
Accra Hearts of Oak, coach Aboubakar Quattara demonstrated an improved coordination and determination compared to their previous games played.
The breakthrough came in the second half when Heart of Oak forward Rashford Mensah scored in the 51st minute with a well-placed free-kick outside the 18 yard box, putting the home side ahead.
In the 71th minute, Accra Heart of Oak doubled their lead with a clinical finish by Hamza Issah from a well placed cross from a counter attack sealing the victory and relieving the pressure on the team and their supporters.
Bechem United pushed for an equalizer but struggled to break down a resolute Hearts defense.
The win is expected to boost the morale of the squad as they aim to climb up the league table after a slow start to the season.
Accra Hearts of Oak lies on 11th position with 3 points ade will travel to face Nations FC at their home grounds whiles Bechem United lies 14 position with 2 points .
