This move comes shortly after Mr. Emunah stepped down from his position as Head of Competitions at the Ghana Football Association (GFA) in early January 2026, where he had served for an extended period in various administrative capacities.

He succeeds Delali Anku-Adiamah, who held the Managing Director role from February 2024 until late 2025, with his contract expiring or concluding around December 2025.

Reports indicate that Mr. Emunah’s appointment followed negotiations and agreement between both parties, with some sources noting an official introduction was anticipated shortly after the announcement in mid-January.

Mr. Emunah brings substantial expertise from his time at the GFA, where he held key responsibilities in competitions management, administration, club licensing, safety protocols, and the overall organization of domestic football events at the national level.

His hands-on involvement ensured the effective coordination of leagues, cup competitions, and related regulatory matters, giving him a comprehensive understanding of Ghana’s football landscape, its operational challenges, and opportunities for growth.

This strategic hire reflects Hearts of Oak’s focus on bolstering its administrative framework amid ambitions to regain top-tier dominance in the Ghana Premier League and perform strongly in continental competitions.

The Phobians, one of Ghana’s most decorated clubs with a passionate fanbase and rich history, view Mr. Emunah’s arrival as a boost to professionalize operations, improve governance, and support on-pitch success under the current technical team.

Mr. Emunah has reportedly assumed his duties, with expectations high that his background in national football governance will translate into enhanced club management, better stakeholder relations—including with the GFA and sponsors—and sustained progress for Accra Hearts of Oak in both domestic and international arenas.
