The Abossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association has reported a downward trend in spare part prices, with expectations for continued decreases through 2025 and into 2026.
This improvement follows recent consultations led by the Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, involving the Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA), spare parts dealers, and transport operators. The discussions focused on addressing price inconsistencies and recent spikes in major markets.
In an interview with Citi News on Monday, November 24, Takyi Addo, the Association’s Head of Communications, confirmed plans for a meeting this week with importers and retailers to negotiate further price cut
“While some prices have already dropped, more efforts are needed. These reductions may not yet be fully visible, but prices are expected to keep falling until the year ends. In 2026, we anticipate an additional 9.9% decrease in our surplus industry,” Mr. Addo stated.
He also noted the ongoing efforts to educate retailers and engage importers, pointing out that the majority in the market are retailers, whereas importers make up a smaller segment.
“Our discussions are centred on importers as they are fewer, while most market participants are retailers,” he added.
