The Black Satellites of Ghana lost 2-1 to Nigeria in the finals of the 2024 WAFU Zone B U20 Championship. Nigeria pipped Ghana to gold in a thrilling final on Wednesday night at Stade de Kégue.
Despite a decent effort and a goal from impressive forward Jerry Afriyie, Ghana failed to go pass a determined Nigerian side that ultimately clinched the championship title.
Afriyie increased his goal tally with his fifth of the tournament. Ghana’s strong performance during the tournament has ensured qualification for the 2025 CAF U20 Africa Cup of Nations, providing them another opportunity to compete for a spot in the FIFA U20 World Cup.
