During a recent tour in Chereponi, Northern Ghana, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama, openly expressed his concerns about the current state of the country under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.
He stated that those who have managed to endure the hardships imposed by the NPP deserve recognition for their resilience.
John Mahama criticized the economic challenges and hardships that he believes the ruling government, led by President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has imposed on the nation.
“Anyone who has survived the economic turmoil of the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration deserves an award,” Mr. Mahama remarked.
He asserted that the NPP has regressed the nation, and pledged that the NDC would rectify the situation if given the mandate to govern.
“You can trust the NDC to restore progress and ease the suffering of the people,” he added.
According to John Mahama, the economic conditions are not improving; in fact, they are deteriorating under the current administration.
He particularly criticized Vice President Bawumia, accusing him of contributing to the mismanagement of the economy and then attempting to sway voters by distributing goods, such as cooking oil, in exchange for votes.
“If the economy were truly in good shape, Ghanaians would be able to buy basic necessities like cooking oil themselves, rather than depending on political handouts,” John Mahama stated.
He emphasized the consequences of another NPP term, warning that it could be disastrous for the country’s economic future.
He urged voters to consider the past years’ struggles and expressed confidence that, with God’s grace and the support of the people, the NDC would secure victory in the upcoming December 7th elections.
“Together, we can bring about the change that Ghana needs,” he concluded.
