Military Presence In Parliament Unnecessary – Joe Ashaiman

Joseph Awuku, Chairman of the Serial Callers and Texters Association and NDC Communication Officer for Ashaiman Constituency, has urged the Ghana Armed Forces to refrain from interfering in parliamentary affairs.

This comes amidst controversy surrounding four vacant MPs who have gone independent ahead of the 2024 Elections, shifting the balance of power in Parliament.

The NDC caucus now holds 136 seats, while the NPP has 135, sparking heated debates across the country.

Some accuse the NDC of orchestrating chaos, while others blame the NPP for creating upheaval.

Mr. Awuku emphasized the need for decency in parliamentary proceedings and criticized President Akufo Addo and the NPP for escalating tensions .

He expressed concern over the unprecedented degradation of parliamentary proceedings, citing Speaker Algban Bagbin’s ruling upheld by the Supreme Court.

The issue has left Ghanaians perplexed due to its unique nature.

Following the Speaker’s indefinite adjournment of the House, Joseph Awuku condemned the NPP MPs’ lawlessness and lack of focus, suggesting they have compromised governance standards.

Mr. Awuku made the comments on Ahotor fm 92.3 breakfast Program dubbed Adekye Mu Nsem on Tuesday 22nd October, 2024 with Kofi Owusu.
