Kamaldeen Sulemana Makes Injury Return for Southampton
Ghanaian forward Kamaldeen Sulemana made his return from injury in Southampton’s disappointing home loss to Leicester City in the English Premier League .
Kamaldeen Sulemana had been sidelined with a knee injury since August 2024 but was cleared to play by manager Russell Martin during Thursday’s pre-match press conference.
The match proved to be a heartbreaker for Sulemana, who had spent weeks recovering, as Leicester staged a remarkable comeback from two goals down. Jordan Ayew’s stoppage-time goal secured a dramatic win for the Foxes in a thrilling encounter at St Mary’s Stadium.
Southampton initially took control of the match, with goals from Cameron Archer and Joe Aribo giving them a well-deserved 2-0 lead within the first 28 minutes. Archer opened the scoring with a straightforward finish from Ryan Manning’s left-wing cross after just eight minutes, followed by Aribo, who converted a similar chance from Kyle Walker-Peters’ delivery.
Kamaldeen Sulemana was brought on in the 78th minute after his team was reduced to ten men, replacing Tyler Dibling. Despite his return, he has yet to find the net for Southampton under Martin’s management, with his only goals for the club coming on the final day of the 2022/23 season.
