Majority Of Black Stars Players Struggle With African Competition’s Physicality And National Team Culture – Emmanuel Agyemang Badu Reveals

Former Black Stars midfielder, Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu, has expressed some of the challenges many black stars players encounters when playing for the senior national team- Black Stars.

In an exclusive interview on Ahotor Agorokesie after the Black Stars 2-0 lost to Sudan in the second leg of 2025 Afcon qualifiers, Emmanuel Agyemang Badu revealed that the majority of current Black Stars players are struggling to cope with the physical demands of African competitions, as well as the unique culture and social environment of the national team.

According to Badu, the level of physicality in African football is significantly different from what most players are accustomed to, especially 90% of the black Stars players are playing in Europe .

Badu’s revelations highlight the need for better preparation and support systems to help Black Stars players adapt both physically and socially when representing Ghana.

Black Stars lost 2-0 to Sudan in the second leg of the 2025 African cup of nations and this has made the Black Stars chances of qualifying doubtful .
