2024 Elections: Bawumia would struggle to secure even 30% of the vote in a free and fair election – Abraham Koomson

The Secretary-General of the Ghana Federation of Labour (GFL), Abraham Koomson, has launched a fierce criticism against the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, accusing him of being complicit in the country’s current economic and governance challenges.

He expressed confidence that Bawumia would not win the upcoming 2024 elections, given the widespread dissatisfaction among Ghanaians with the ruling party’s performance.

Speaking on Ahotor FM’s “Yepe Ahunu” show on Saturday, October 12th, 2024, Mr. Koomson urged the Electoral Commission to conduct free, fair, and transparent elections on December 7th.

He firmly believes that if the polls are credible, Dr. Bawumia will struggle to secure even 30% of the vote.

“Ghanaians are fed up with the NPP’s mismanagement,” Mr. Koomson declared. “If the elections are truly free and fair, the NPP has no chance of being declared the winner.”

He went on to accuse Dr. Bawumia of playing a key role in the mismanagement and corruption that he says have pushed the country into its current state of disarray.

According to Koomson, Bawumia is one of the main architects behind the ongoing misgovernance that has crippled the nation, citing his deep involvement in the corruption and nepotism that have plagued the NPP government.

“Alhaji Bawumia has repeatedly shown that he cannot be trusted, as he has proven time and again to be a chronic liar. He is a major figure in the state capture and corruption that are destroying our nation. His hands are dirty, and he is deeply embedded in the web of corruption that has engulfed this nation-wrecking NPP government. If the Electoral Commission conducts a truly transparent election, Dr. Bawumia will not even receive 30% of the votes,” Mr. Koomson remarked to show host, Teacher Kojo.

He urged Ghanaians to reject Dr. Bawumia at the polls, warning that a vote for him would be a vote to conceal the corrupt deeds of the current NPP administration.

He strongly advocated for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, stating that Mahama offers the best hope for fighting corruption and rescuing the nation from the grip of the NPP.

“We need the NDC to come and save Ghanaians from the NPP’s disastrous governance,” he stressed, cautioning that the ruling party might attempt to manipulate the election results in their favor. However, he expressed optimism that some staunch NPP supporters might withhold their votes, recognizing that their party has failed them.

In closing, Mr. Koomson called on the electorate to make the right choice in the upcoming elections and vote for change, asserting that Ghana deserves a government that prioritizes the well-being of its people over corruption and self-interest.
