Political parties attend IPAC meetings to sing praises and not to ask technical questions – Political Analyst.

Nana Amerikyi Ntow, a political analyst, has voiced his concerns about the effectiveness of the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meetings held between political parties and the Electoral Commission (EC).

He observed that these meetings often devolve into self-congratulatory sessions, with little attention paid to the pressing technical issues that require resolution.

In particular, he questioned whether many of the political parties truly know the exact number of names on the voter register, a critical piece of information for election transparency.

Speaking on Adekye Nsroma this morning, Ntow emphasized that Ghana’s political discourse seems to revolve primarily around the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC), despite the presence of 13 presidential candidates on the ballot in the upcoming elections.

He questioned the relevance of other political parties if they are not contributing to strengthening the nation’s democracy, particularly in the context of election preparations.

He called on the Electoral Commission to be transparent in its work, urging the EC to build trust and confidence among Ghanaians through a credible electoral process.
