Politics is never a dirty game but, it depends on how you play it – Hon Haruna Mahama.

Hon. Haruna Mahama, the former constituency organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Kpone Katamanso, Greater Accra, shared his views on the nature of politics during an interview with Wofa Gyamfi.

He addressed the common perception that politics is a “dirty game,” but he emphasized that this depends on how individuals approach it.

According to him, it’s wrong for politicians to make promises they know they cannot fulfill.

For him, integrity in politics is essential to building trust with voters, and politicians should be honest about what they can and cannot achieve.

Hon. Mahama also confirmed that “mafia tactics” exist within political circles, reflecting on his own experience during his bid for the chairmanship position in the constituency.

Despite his hard work, he faced internal party struggles that contributed to his loss. However, he chose not to escalate the issue, as it was within the party and he did not want to tarnish its image in the constituency.

He stated that if the issue had involved the NDC and the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), he would have handled it differently.

His preference, however, is to put the party’s success above personal ambitions, even if it means being seen as weak.
