INIESTA ANNOUNCED RETIREMENT PLANS ON 8TH OCTOBER 2024

Barcelona and Spain legend Andres Iniesta will retire from the game at the age of 40. The veteran midfielder has been a free agent for several months after leaving his latest club Emirates FC Club.

Iniesta has chosen 8th October 2024 as the day he bids farewell to professional football. Interestingly the date corresponds to the jersey number (8) he wore for most of his career.

Iniesta rose to prominence at Barcelona. After graduating from the famous La Masia, Iniesta transitioned into an iconic player on the Senior side. His close control, accurate passing and dribbling ability endeared him to many football enthusiasts.

Iniesta is one of the most beloved Spanish footballers, having scored the winning goal in the 2010 World Cup final, the only goal of the game, four minutes from the end of extra time to secure a first-ever World title for La Roja. He was also key in their victories at Euro 2008 and 2012.

Iniesta is part of a special pool of Barcelona players to have received a standing ovation at Santiago Bernabeu.
