Anthony Brenyah, Greater Accra Regional Communication Bureau of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has urged President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to address the illegal mining crisis, known locally as galamsey, before his term ends.
Brenyah emphasized that as the commander-in-chief of the Ghana Armed Forces and the country’s leader, the president has the authority to ensure the issue is resolved.
He criticized the current government for failing to tackle the problem effectively and called for strict enforcement of laws against illegal mining.
In an interview with Anigye Hene Abeiku Yamoah on Property daybreak, Brenyah also suggested that the upcoming NDC administration, led by John Dramani Mahama, would address these issues and hold current officials accountable.
