I love that people call my music Afro-depression

Nigerian international star, Omah Lay appreciates being associated with the “Afro-depression” label by his fans. He expressed his delight in an interview with Billboard, stating that he loves that his music has sparked a new movement without him having to explain it himself.

His emotional and reflective music, featured in his debut album “Boy Alone,” including the hit song “Soso,” has resonated with listeners and earned the “Afro-depression” tag.

According to Omah Lay, his music has inspired other Afrobeats artists, influencing a new wave in the genre.

Despite facing challenges, such as having his sound copied by another artist, Omah Lay continues to evolve and recently released his first single of 2023, “Moving,” as part of his upcoming sophomore album.
