The aspiring Member of Parliament for the Ayawaso Constituency on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress John Dumelo.
He mentioned that his current focus is on winning his seat rather than being concerned about a ministerial position.
According to him, he is open to accepting any ministerial role after securing his seat and helping John Dramani Mahama win the 2024 general elections.
In an exclusive interview with Pulse.com.gh, Dumelo emphasized that the issue of any ministerial position will be addressed after the NDC and John Dramani Mahama have won.
When asked about his interest in a ministerial position, he expressed, “My aim at this point as a member of parliament is to make sure John Mahama becomes president.
After that, you can ask me that question.” Dumelo is contesting as the Member of Parliament candidate for the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress.
While he lost to Lydia Alhassan of the NPP in the 2020 elections by about 2000 votes, he remains hopeful of securing victory in the upcoming December 7th general elections.
In addition to his political aspirations, Dumelo has also shed light on his campaign strategies. He mentioned that he has adopted a new door-to-door campaign strategy to reach out to the constituents in his area.
Moreover, he highlighted the various community-oriented initiatives he undertakes, such as clean-up exercises and providing free bus services for university students in the Ayawaso constituency.
Despite not extensively publicizing these activities, Dumelo emphasized that the people in his constituency are aware of his efforts and dedication to serve them.
