Dr. James Kofi Annan, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for the Efutu constituency, has labeled the area a “crime scene” as he urged for fair practices ahead of the December elections. Annan criticized the Majority Leader in Parliament, Alexander Kwamina Afenyo and called for an end to political skirmishing and gerrymandering, emphasizing the need for these issues to be addressed to ensure a fair election process.
Annan expressed confidence that the NDC is poised to win the Efutu seat, but stressed that this success requires teamwork, security, and a robust ballot accounting system. He highlighted concerns about the use of cruel political strategies by the Majority Leader in past elections.
Annan shared these views during the Adekyee Mu Nsem morning show on Ahotor 92.3 FM, hosted by Citizen Kofi Owusu in Accra. He assured NDC supporters that the constituency is well-prepared to host the party’s 2024 manifesto campaign launch. Annan noted that the party’s regional structure has adopted a comprehensive approach to ensure the event runs smoothly, from arrival to departure.
In related news, Dr. Peter Boamah Otokunor, Chairman of the NDC 2024 Manifesto Planning Committee, has underscored the party’s intellectual and policy expertise.
In an interview with the media in Accra, Dr. Otokunor highlighted that the NDC stands out for its intellectual strength and governance experience. He stated, “Everybody in Ghana knows that the NDC is not a party known for emptiness. We are distinguished by our intellectual capacity and outstanding policy expertise.”
He compared the election to choosing between alcohol and water, suggesting the NDC is the superior choice. Dr. Otokunor praised President Mahama’s previous governance, asserting that his leadership demonstrated a profound understanding of policy and effective government operation.
“This election is a very interesting one. It’s like comparing alcohol and water—you know which one has a stronger effect. The people of Ghana have seen President Mahama’s governance and the results of his administration over four years,” Dr. Otokunor concluded.
