NDC Pushes to Capture Tema West as Campaign Intensifies for December Elections- James Enu

Efforts are intensifying to wrest the Tema West constituency from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the upcoming December elections. The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is mobilizing its base and supporters to secure the seat.

Hon. James Enu, the NDC Parliamentary Candidate, emphasized this goal on the Adekyee Mu Nsem morning show on Ahotor 92.3 FM, hosted by Citizen Kofi Owusu in Accra. He highlighted the recent visit by NDC’s running mate, Prof. Naana Opoku-Agyemang, to the constituency, which has energized the party’s support base. Enu called for teamwork to build on the successes of 2016 and 2020 to capture the seat from the NPP and boost presidential votes for John Dramani Mahama.

Enu criticized the NPP for its poor performance in Tema West, pointing out significant infrastructural deficits, including issues with roads, markets, and schools, that have been neglected in recent years. He described the NPP’s manifesto as inadequate, failing to address the economic challenges Ghanaians are facing. Enu attributed this to the NPP’s lack of accountability during its time in office.

In related developments, Dr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, former National Chairman of the NDC, endorsed the John and Jane ticket as the best solution to Ghana’s current economic difficulties. Speaking to NDC supporters in the Tema East constituency during Prof. Opoku-Agyemang’s campaign tour, Dr. Ofosu Ampofo praised Prof. Opoku-Agyemang for her groundbreaking achievements, including being the first female Vice Chancellor of a public university in Ghana and her role in introducing technical universities and progressive free education at the Senior High School level.

Dr. Ofosu Ampofo emphasized that the John and Jane ticket is best positioned to secure Ghana’s future and address the current economic challenges. He criticized the NPP for its promises in 2016, which he claimed were not fulfilled, and accused Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of failing to deliver on his economic expertise. According to Ofosu Ampofo, Bawumia has overseen the highest Cedi-to-Dollar ratio in Ghana’s history and the collapse of businesses, including banks.

He urged voters to reject Bawumia and support the NDC’s presidential ticket, asserting that the future of Ghana is brighter under the leadership of John Dramani Mahama and Prof. Opoku-Agyemang.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang also outlined key NDC policies, including the 24-Hour Economy policy, National Apprenticeship Program, Women Development Bank, and the Big Push, aimed at alleviating the hardships faced by Ghanaians. She encouraged all registered voters to participate in the ongoing voter exhibition exercise and vote in large numbers for John Dramani Mahama and NDC parliamentary candidates in the December 7, 2024, general elections.
