Ghanaian highlife artist Bisa Kdei and Afrobeat musician Fancy Gadam have both criticized the Ghana Music Rights Organisation (GHAMRO) for the low royalties they received.
Bisa Kdei was disappointed with the amount he received for his popular songs “Mansa” and “Brother” and mentioned that he found the offer unacceptable.
Similarly, Fancy Gadam expressed shock after receiving only GH₵374 as royalties and questioned whether GHAMRO takes its members seriously.
Both artists raised concerns about the livelihood of musicians, especially the veteran artists who rely on royalties as a significant source of income.
Their comments highlight the ongoing issues within the music industry regarding fair compensation for artists and the need for transparency and accountability within music rights organizations.
