NDC Professionals Forum Condemns NPP’s Hypocrisy and Calls for Accountability

We, the NDC Professionals Forum (NDC PROFODUM), are deeply dismayed, though not surprised, by the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) predictable attempt to distort the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) stance on the Peace Council’s request to sign a Peace Pact. The NPP’s recent letter is a blatant display of hypocrisy and dishonesty, and we refuse to remain passive while they mislead the people of Ghana.

The NDC has consistently demonstrated its commitment to peaceful elections through actions rather than mere rhetoric. We have consistently advocated for a transparent and peaceful electoral process and have worked diligently to ensure that our supporters uphold these principles.

In stark contrast, the NPP has a troubling history of violence and intimidation. Their recent letter serves only as a feeble attempt to deflect attention from their own shortcomings. We will not be lectured by a party that has repeatedly shown a disregard for democratic norms and the rule of law.

Moreover, we call on President Akufo-Addo to publicly condemn the following grave incidents:

The military invasion of Parliament, which was an outright assault on Ghana’s democracy and rule of law.
The murder of eight young people during the 2020 elections, a tragic and senseless loss of life.
The murder of journalist Ahmed Suale, who was targeted for performing his journalistic duties.
The murder of activist Kaka, who was advocating for justice.
The violence in Ayawaso West Wuogon, a disgraceful display of thuggery and intimidation.
We demand that President Akufo-Addo take decisive action to address these incidents and ensure that those responsible are held accountable. Failing to do so would betray the trust of the Ghanaian people.

While the NDC remains open to signing a genuine and meaningful Peace Pact, we will not be coerced or bullied into doing so. We demand a true commitment to peace and transparency from the NPP and expect them to take substantive steps to address their own history of violence and intimidation.

Ghanaians deserve more than the NPP’s cynical maneuvering. We deserve a genuine commitment to peace and democracy, and we will continue to advocate for it.

Signed,

Amb. Sam Pee Yalley

National President, NDC Professionals Forum (NDC PROFODUM)
