Members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) must unite to support flagbearer John Dramani Mahama in the December elections to secure victory and drive national development. Despite numerous broken promises from the New Patriotic Party (NPP), unity within the party is crucial to overcoming the challenges ahead and achieving success in the upcoming polls.
Joseph Akuerteh Tettey, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Kpone Katamanso, made these remarks on the Adekyee Mu Nsem morning show on Ahotor 92.3 FM, hosted by Alex Nana Dogbey in Accra.
MP Tettey expressed concerns about the government’s commitment to development projects in his constituency, particularly in road infrastructure. He criticized the Minister of Roads and Highways for neglecting significant road projects, which remain incomplete.
Tettey has previously raised these issues in Parliament, questioning the Minister about the status of road projects in his area, including the Kpone Barrier to Saki Bediako Road and the Katamanso to Oyibi Road.
Regarding education and water supply in the constituency, Tettey acknowledged improvements, including the construction of boreholes and support for needy students. However, he remains concerned about ongoing infrastructure issues.
In addition, Tettey highlighted problems with the Katamanso to Oyibi Road project. Former Minister Amoako-Attah reported that the contractor has been absent from the site despite multiple warnings. A notice of termination has been issued, and the MP has been assured that engineering studies will be conducted on both road projects for potential inclusion in the 2024 budget, pending funding availability.
The Kpone Barrier to Saki Bediako Road, which stretches 3.8 kilometers from Kalysto Junction to Michel Camp gate, is in a state of disrepair and urgently needs attention. The Katamanso to Oyibi Road, part of the “Upgrading of Oyibi–Ashaiman Road (11.7 km), Lot 3” project, commenced on December 20, 2012, with an initial completion date of December 19, 2013. This was later extended to October 19, 2016. The project is approximately 95% complete, with only bitumen surfacing remaining.
