Asake, the Nigerian international superstar, recently engaged with fans in an Instagram live session following the release of his third album, ‘Lungu Boy.’
During the session, Asake addressed questions about why he consistently chooses to sing in Yoruba.
He explained to fans that although he is capable of singing in English, he feels more at ease and connected when singing in Yoruba.
Asake expressed his preference for fans to appreciate and support his music in Yoruba, stating, “Not like I can’t sing in English, but I am more comfortable singing in Yoruba.
So if you f**c with me, f**c with me in Yoruba.” Asake also shared an interesting revelation about his collaboration with Wizkid. He disclosed that he had not anticipated featuring Wizkid on the track ‘MMS.’
According to Asake, Wizkid was presented the song by the producer, P.Priime, and upon hearing it, Wizkid loved it and decided to record his verse for the song. This latest album release and the collaboration with Wizkid have marked significant achievements for Asake.
The song featuring Wizkid, ‘MMS,’ set a new record for the highest opening day streams for a song on Spotify Nigeria. Additionally, the album itself also set a record for opening day streams.
Furthermore, Asake’s fans questioned him about the absence of Davido on his album. Asake responded by assuring fans that he has unreleased songs with Davido, indicating that these tracks will be unveiled at a later date.
Looking ahead, Asake is gearing up for his upcoming ‘Lungu Boy’ tour, which includes performances at prestigious venues such as the O2 Arena, where he had previously headlined a show in 2023, and the iconic Madison Square Garden.
Notably, this achievement will make him only the fourth Nigerian artist to headline at the Madison Square Garden.
