LeBron James scores 25 points, including the game-winning basket in the final seconds as Team USA rallies from 16 points down against South Sudan in a thrilling encounter in London.
James’ layup with 8 seconds left was the go-ahead basket as the U.S. Olympic team that will soon head to Paris escaped with a 101-100 win over South Sudan in London, rallying from a 16-point deficit to avoid perhaps the biggest upset in the program’s history.
South Sudan led for more than half the game and had a chance to win at the end. But Carlik Jones’ runner off the glass missed with about 4 seconds left, and the Americans survived with LeBron James rescuing the US. South Sudan is participating in the Olympic games for the first time since their independence 13 years ago.
Team USA has won four of their pre-Olympic exhibition games and is hoping to beat world champions Germany in their game before their first Olympic game in Paris.
