Nigerian actress Kate Henshaw recently made a strong statement against the concept of “African time” and condemned the habit of being late as disrespectful on social media.
On July 15, 2024, she expressed her disapproval of tardiness and criticized the commonly used excuse for being late in African societies.
She posted; There is nothing like “African time.” You are disrespectful and rude!! If it comes to money matters, you will be very early or you have an embassy appointment! Miss me with that attitude. I detest tardiness
Her post received a lot of support from her followers, who also denounced the concept of African time.
Some of them pointed out that the phrase ‘African time’ does not accurately represent African culture and instead promotes lateness.
They emphasized the importance of valuing time and being punctual.
