Dr. Mary Awusi, the Deputy Director of Interparty Relations and CSOs and a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Campaign Team, has criticized K.T. Hammond’s proposal to regulate cement prices.
She argued that while the issue of rising cement prices needs attention, introducing a bill is not the right approach.
Speaking on Ahotor FM’s morning show ‘Adekyee Mu Nsem’ with host Nana Dogbe, Dr. Awusi stated that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) lacks effective solutions to the country’s problems.
She described K.T. Hammond, the Trades and Industry Minister, as a comedian and a joker, expressing her disbelief at his behavior.
Dr. Awusi explained that regulating cement prices in the manner proposed by K.T. Hammond is impractical.
She urged him to focus his efforts on helping the government govern the country more effectively.
She highlighted the government’s failure to improve the health sector, stating, “I expected this government to at least improve the health sector, but they couldn’t. How many Agenda 111 hospitals have been commissioned? How many CHPS compound hospitals has this government added to those John Mahama left?”
Dr. Awusi also criticized the ruling NPP government for demolishing the LA General Hospital without building new ones. She labeled the government as clueless.
Regarding Ghana’s education sector, Dr. Awusi called for an investigation into the Education Minister Osei Yaw Adutwum’s PhD certificate.
She accused him and President Akufo-Addo of implementing policies that could collapse the education sector just to retain power.
She concluded by urging Ghanaians to vote for John Dramani Mahama and the NDC in the upcoming December elections, warning that the future of Ghana looks bleak under the NPP.
