IGP Dismissal Rumor Exposed as False-Richard Kumadoe

The purported letter announcing the dismissal of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) has been revealed as propaganda aimed at bolstering the findings of an ad-hoc parliamentary committee report. This report sought to implicate the IGP but has since been proven false.

Despite the police authority’s public denial of the existence of such a letter, there remains a pressing need for the security apparatus and the appointing authority to conduct a thorough investigation into its origin.

Security analyst and fraud expert Richard Kumadoe emphasized this point during his appearance on Ahotor 92.3 FM’s morning show, Adekyeee Mu Nsem, hosted by Alex Nana Dogbey in Accra. Kumadoe stressed the importance of utilizing the forensic and cyber security departments of the police to trace the source of the forged document and hold accountable those responsible for its circulation.

It is imperative for the appointing authority to step forward and clarify the situation to restore confidence in the integrity of the police leadership.

Meanwhile, an ad-hoc Parliamentary committee, tasked with investigating a leaked tape revealing a plot by senior police officers to remove the IGP from office, has found two officers guilty of perjury. Superintendent George Lysander Asare and Superintendent Emmanuel Eric Gyebi initially denied crucial communications but later recanted their testimonies during subsequent hearings before the committee.

The committee’s report, presented to Parliament, concluded that both officers had misled the committee under oath. As a result, the committee recommended that the Privileges Committee take appropriate action against them for their conduct.

The leaked tape allegedly captured conversations involving the two officers and Chief Bugri Naabu, former Northern regional chairman of the New Patriotic Party, discussing plans to oust the IGP.

In light of these developments, the focus now shifts to restoring transparency and accountability within Ghana’s law enforcement agencies, while ensuring that justice is served regarding the false allegations and the perjury committed during the committee’s proceedings.
