Hands Off Our Hotels Demo: The turnout exceeded my expectations – Okudzeto Ablakwa

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Member of Parliament for the North Tongu Constituency, has expressed heartfelt gratitude to the many Ghanaians who participated in the “Hands Off Our Hotels” demonstration.

He shared his appreciation during an interview on Ahotor FM‘s morning show “Adekyee Mu Nsem,” hosted by Citizen Kofi Owusu.

Honorable Ablakwa revealed that the turnout far exceeded his expectations. Despite the long distance, many attendees showed their dedication to the cause.

He highlighted that the demonstration was not just supported by members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) but also by people from diverse backgrounds.

Leading the demonstration, Hon. Ablakwa and the protestors submitted a petition to the government, urging them to stop the sale of 60% of SSNIT’s stake in four hotels to Rock City Hotel, owned by Dr. Bryan Acheampong, the Minister of Food and Agriculture.

Hon. Ablakwa, the main organizer of the “Hands Off Our Hotels” movement, announced plans for a second demonstration in the Central Region if the government does not address their petition.

This region is significant as it is home to two affected hotels, Elmina and Ridge Royal. The growing support from the Central Region underscores the widespread concern over the proposed sale.
