Peter Lanchene Toobu, the Member of Parliament for the Wa West Constituency, has called for the immediate arrest of Ernest Frimpong, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Amenfi East.
Hon. Toobu argued that a person who incites attacks on uniformed personnel is unfit to hold the office of a Member of Parliament.
Mr. Toobu pointed out that Ernest Frimpong’s recent conduct and previous actions demonstrate that he is unsuitable for a parliamentary role.
This statement follows the circulation of a viral video showing Ernest Frimpong encouraging illegal miners to continue their activities and defend themselves against military personnel.
In his defense, Ernest Frimpong admitted to being in the video but denied engaging with illegal miners, claiming he was speaking to community miners.
Speaking on Ahotor FM‘s morning show ‘Adekyee Mu Nsem‘ with host Citizen Kofi Owusu, Hon. Toobu condemned the incitement of violence against the military, calling it shameful and insisting that Frimpong should be ashamed of his actions.

Peter Lanchene Toobu also referenced President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s 2017 commitment to combat illegal mining, known as galamsey, even at the risk of losing political support.
The President had expressed his willingness to prioritize doing what is right over political gain, despite warnings that such actions might cost him votes.
Reflecting on the President’s promise, Hon. Toobu criticized Akufo-Addo for failing in his fight against galamsey, suggesting that he should resign.
He accused the President of being the “king of galamsey,” claiming that his efforts had fallen into disarray.
