Ghanaians are been scandalised and shocked with the revelations coming from the Attorney General, Godfred Dame has come under intense pressure following claims by the third accused in the case, Richard Gyakpa in open court that the AG coerced him to incriminate Dr. Ato Forson.
The testimonies and witness in the ambulance trials is pregnant with a lot deception and lairs and this can point to the fact that the state Attorney General Godfred Dame has not win any to political profile cases on merit.
The Co-Convener; Arise Ghana said this on Adekyee Mu Nsem morning show on Ahotor 92.3 FM and hosted by Citizen Kofi Owusu in Accra.
Recounting his bizarre and surprise he believes the best thing that can happened to this country is for the AG to resigned since the legal duty for the state attorney is to protect fundamental human rights for all of us. But then looking at the revelations coming from the Ambulance trail, he can describe the AG as a minister of injustice.
He reiterated that listening to the testimony from Richard Dzakpa, creates an impression that, when we allowed the role of attorney general position in the hands of Godfred Dame justice will be obscure to destroy the reputation of the state, an individual and disgrace to jurisprudence and traverse of justice.
In another development, the third accused in the ongoing Ambulance case Richard Jakpa has disclosed that Attorney General Godfred Dame once told him that he was pressured by President Akufo-Addo and the former Minister of Finance Ken Ofori-Atta to prosecute Ato Forson.
This was disclosed in a new application filed by Richard Jakpa seeking to strike out charges against him.
During his cross-examination last week, Jakpa disclosed that the Attorney General had been contacting him at unusual times to implicate the Minority Leader, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson.
Dr. Ato Forson, who previously served as Deputy Finance Minister and is currently the Minority Leader, is on trial for his alleged involvement in the procurement of defective ambulances for Ghana. This case has ignited public discourse, leading some to call for the resignation of the Attorney General.
“Jakpa further avers that Godfred Dame has told him that the reason for his inclusion in the prosecution is to mask the real intention behind the whole trial.
“And that, he instituted the instant action, because the President of the Republic and then Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta, were mounting pressure on him to persecute the then ranking Member for Finance and now Minority Leader, Hon. Ato Forson.”
Jakpa’s legal team has submitted an application in court, requesting that the charges against him be dismissed or, alternatively, that the proceedings be suspended.
