Medeama SC Receives $200K Sponsorship Renewal Deal From AngloGold Ashanti

Medeama Sporting Club, the Tarkwa-based giants of Ghanaian football, have received a significant financial boost with AngloGold Ashanti Iduapriem Mine committing a $200,000 sponsorship package for the ongoing 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season, AhotorSports has learnt.

AngloGold Ashanti renews sponsorship deal with Medeama SC, pumping in fresh $200K

This deal, building on the initial sponsorship agreement between AngloGold Ashanti Iduapriem Mine and Medeama Sporting Club was announced in September 2025, naming the mining company as the club’s official headline sponsor for the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season.

The renewable year on year deal marked a significant step in strengthening an existing relationship, building directly on AngloGold Ashanti’s prior support of USD 100,000 provided to Medeama during their 2023 CAF Champions League campaign.

The latest injection of funds is expected to enhance player welfare, improve logistics, and support overall club operations, providing crucial stability amid financial challenges faced by many teams in the league.

The sponsorship comes at an ideal time for the Mauve and Yellow, who are enjoying a strong campaign. As of the conclusion of the first round of fixtures on January 4, 2026, Medeama sit atop the Ghana Premier League standings following a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Accra Hearts of Oak in their Matchday 17 clash.

That win sealed their position as leaders heading into the second half of the season, with the team demonstrating impressive form and defensive solidity throughout the opening phase.

This top-spot finish underscores their ambitions to challenge for the title once again, leveraging both their on-pitch performances and off-field support to maintain momentum in what promises to be a competitive race.
