Kenneth Kofi Kabu Kanor, Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) branch in the Ada Constituency, strongly contests the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) claim of completing 13,000 projects, asserting that even if you tally all their toilet projects nationwide, the number wouldn’t reach that figure.
In an interview with Emmanuel Martey on Ahotor 92.3 FM‘s ‘Simpieso‘, Mr. Kabu Kanor criticized the NPP for what he perceives as deceitful practices, citing the example of a purportedly functional plantain factory in Asante-Akim North, which, upon investigation, was found to be inactive.
A constituent from the Asante-Akim North Constituency recently challenged the government and MP Andy Appiah-Kubi’s assertions regarding the alleged plantain factory. Despite claims made by the NPP and the MP about the factory’s operation and its role in providing jobs, evidence gathered by a vigilant constituent suggests otherwise.
The controversy arose from the inclusion of the plantain factory in the NPP’s Performance Tracker, with Appiah-Kubi even stating in parliament that he supplies plantains to sustain its operations. However, footage circulated on social media revealed a deserted factory, contradicting official claims.
The discrepancy between official statements and on-the-ground realities has fueled skepticism among residents, who question the effectiveness of government initiatives and the transparency of elected officials. Calls for accountability and transparency have grown louder, emphasizing the importance of grassroots scrutiny in holding public officials accountable.
In response to these revelations, Mr. Kabu Kanor emphasized the NPP’s inability to deliver on its promises, highlighting the disparity between their claims and the actual implementation of projects.
