Isaac Ashai Odamtten, Member of Parliament for the Tema East Constituency, strongly condemned the violent clash that occurred during this year’s Kplejoo festival between residents and the Navy, resulting in tragic deaths and injuries. The unfortunate incident, which took place on the evening of Friday, April 12, 2024, saw some individuals lose their lives in a confrontation between local youth and navy personnel at Tema Manhean in the Greater Accra Region.
The clash unfolded when the youth, as part of the festival celebrations, organized a street procession. As they reached the area in front of the Eastern Naval Command, tensions escalated, leading to a disagreement between the youth and the navy.
In a statement made during Ahotor 92.3 FM‘s midday news segment, MP Isaac Ashai Odamtten appealed for peace and urged for calm in the aftermath of the clash. He criticized the Navy for what he deemed as a lack of professionalism in handling the situation.
