The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has reiterated that there are currently no power outages, commonly known as “dumsor,” taking place in the country. Contrary to circulating reports, ECG maintains that there is no load-shedding occurring at this time.
Despite public calls for a load-shedding timetable, both ECG and the Minister of Energy, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, stand firm in their assertion that ECG is not implementing load-shedding measures.
In a recent statement, ECG pointed out that the power cuts were due to around 630 overloaded transformers. However, following a meeting with the Mines and Energy Committee of Parliament
ECG’s managing director, Samuel Dubik Mahama, informed journalists that the issues with the transformers have been resolved.
He emphasized that ECG is actively working to maintain a stable electricity supply across the nation.
We are committed to giving our best efforts to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply “he added”
The lights will remain on. Progress has been made on resolving the issues with the mentioned transformers, and the reinforcement efforts are nearing completion. Therefore, it is essential to maintain a positive outlook. A comprehensive statement outlining our plans will be issued shortly. It is important to note that we are not implementing load shedding at this time; hence, there are no power cuts.
