The police must use the law to bring Bryan Acheampong to order — Richard Kumadoe

The statement attributed to Bryan Acheampong, Member of Parliament for the Abetifi Constituency, is highly regrettable and can be viewed as a serious offense against the state’s security architecture, potentially constituting treason.

Richard Kumado, a consultant and security expert, expressed this sentiment on Ahotor FM 92.3 FM during the Adekyee Mu Nsem morning show hosted by Alex Nana Dogbey in Accra.

Furthermore, Dr. Kevor Mark Oliver Kevor, Eastern Regional chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), issued a stern warning to Dr. Bryan Acheampong, Minister of Food and Agriculture, cautioning him against any actions aimed at undermining the will of the people in the upcoming election.

Dr. Kevor highlighted the potential ramifications of political instability, including threats to businesses and significant investments made by the minister.

This response from the Regional Chairman comes in the wake of Dr. Bryan Acheampong’s reiterated stance that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) would not relinquish power to the opposition NDC.

Dr. Acheampong reaffirmed the NPP’s commitment to revitalizing the economy and securing another term in office, emphasizing that the NPP would never hand over power to the NDC.

It’s concerning that this is not the first time the minister has made such statements, and the lack of action by state security institutions to hold him accountable is alarming. Dr. Kevor also raised concerns about the potential for electoral violence, urging the state to implement measures to ensure a peaceful electoral process in the December 2024 polls.

Dr. Mark Oliver Kevor expressed confidence that the NDC would emerge victorious in the 2024 election, noting that the party had learned important lessons from past elections.

The walk mentioned was attended by flag bearer John Mahama, former ministers, government appointees of the NDC, national and regional executives, parliamentary candidates, and thousands of supporters.
