Coach Desmond Ofei praised his team’s resilience after a tough victory against Senegal in the semi-final of the African Games Men’s Football Tournament. Their late goal secured a spot in the final against Uganda, scheduled for Friday.
Coach Ofei shared his satisfaction with the team’s performance against Senegal, describing it as a challenging match against a strong opponent.
He highlighted their hard work and determination throughout the game, noting their control of the match from the beginning to the end.
Despite Senegal’s unexpected strategy of relying on long passes rather than ball possession, Ghana adapted effectively and emerged victorious.
During the press conference, Coach Ofei specifically commended the efforts of forward Aziz Misibau, acknowledging his significant contribution to the team’s success.
He emphasized the importance of managing players’ energy levels, particularly during Ramadan, and explained the strategic decision to substitute Misibau when his performance began to decline.
Furthermore, Coach Ofei elaborated on the team’s tactical approach, explaining their preference for a defensive setup with three defenders to assert dominance in midfield.
However, he also highlighted their flexibility in transitioning to a four-defender formation when needed to bolster their defensive capabilities and midfield presence.
