Joshua Hamidu Akamba, former National Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has launched a scathing critique of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), alleging that they cannot secure a clear victory in Ghanaian elections without resorting to electoral fraud.
In a fiery interview on Accra-based Ahotor 92.3 FM, Akamba voiced his concerns about the recent disappearance of laptops and registration kits from the Electoral Commission. He suggested that these incidents may be part of a larger scheme by the NPP to manipulate the outcome of the upcoming 2024 general elections.
Drawing attention to the disputed results of the 2020 elections, Akamba emphasized the NDC’s strong performance in winning eight out of ten regions. Despite this, he claimed that the NPP was declared the winner through electoral malpractice, alleging rigging as the primary factor behind their victory.
Akamba urged the leadership of the NDC to remain vigilant in the lead-up to the 2024 elections, emphasizing the importance of grassroots mobilization. He stressed that electoral success hinges on the efforts of party members at the local level, urging branch executives to unite and work tirelessly to ensure victory for the NDC.
Highlighting the critical role of branches in securing electoral triumph, Akamba called for increased support and resources to strengthen grassroots operations. He underscored the need for unity and dedication among party members, emphasizing that the NDC’s path to victory lies in the collective efforts of its grassroots supporters.
“NPP can never win an election in this country unless they steal, how can the NDC lose the 2020 elections when we won 8 regions out of the 10 then but the NPP won only 2 regions but was declared winners, they rigged that election and we won’t allow it to happened again,” he said.
