Houston to host first Manchester derby on foreign soil
The 2017-18 Premier League season kicks off in August, but Manchester United and Manchester City won’t have to wait that long to renew hostilities.
The rivals will meet at NRG Stadium in Houston as part of the International Champions Cup on July 20, the clubs announced Monday.
“The Manchester Derby is one of the world’s most iconic games,” City chief executive Ferran Soriano said in a club release. “We are very excited to play it in front of our passionate American fans. There are so many great memories from this game in history and we can’t wait to create some new ones in Houston.”
